Google is paying tribute to the famous Italian philosopher who changed the face of education way back on her time this Friday, August 31, 2012. Maria Montessori opened her first school, "Casa Dei Bambini" in the suburb part of Rome in 1907. She applied her strategic learning method, a scientific approach of teaching were students can pick knowledge and ideas from their environment.
However, her method was first tested to kids who needs a special attention. But as her effective approach gained the attention of parents and other educators, they started to embrace her way of teaching procedures. Her child-centered approach emphasizes the freedom of students to choose the right stuff for them and continually open the minds due to curiosity.
Social skills is one of a fruitful thing that can be learn from her theory. The reasoning capabilities of students can be enhance due to a playground like learning methodology. According to previous reports, students who are enrolled in this program excels compared to the classical way of teaching. And everything rooted from the inspiration of Maria from St. Thomas Aquinas, a renowned teacher of the Catholic church.
In my surprise, Larry Page as well Sergey Brin, the founder of Google company also came from the same training grounds way back in their school years. Both of them has a professor parents who are also teaching in college but according to their interview with Barbara Walters of ABC, they key of their success came from Montessori education.
